- What information will I need when I call Fortune Life Home Care?
Let us know what your requirements are, specific conditions or medication taken that we should be aware of.
We can guide you to the service which would be appropriate for your needs.
Some callers like to pass the phone over to family members to ask additional questions and we are happy to help.
- What is the initial assessment?
The initial assessment is a home visit that we arrange with you to meet and to discuss the care needed.
Specific details of the care that you require will be gathered at the initial assessment – so for example medication, allergies, toileting etc. We will ask for relative contact details should we need to talk to them in case anything happens.
Our initial assessment is carried out free of charge at your home and you shall be informed of the costs.
- What is a care plan?
A care plan is a private document that details how our carer/s will carry out your day-to-day care. It is based on what’ required with input from your family (if you wish). It covers areas including preferences, dietary requirements, exercise plus any additional support services needed.
If there are changes during the course of the care being provided, this will get documented and updated on the care plan.
- What are your carers not able to help with?
We are not able to undertake the following tasks:
- Toe and nail cutting
- Ear syringing
- Remove / replace urinary catheters
- Changing sterile dressing
- Lifting from the floor unaided
- I'm concerned about having many carers looking after me. Will this be the case?
We value a good relationship between you and our carer/s. Having a small number of carers provides you the comfort in knowing they will know your habits and conditions.
For our live-in care package we provide a primary and a secondary carer whom you’ll have familiarity with. The secondary carer will cover periods when the primary has a day off or is on holiday.
- How do you train your care workers?
All our staff are required to undergo our comprehensive in-house training course. Each year our carers are all sent on refresher training to keep their skills and knowledge up to date.
